In conjunction with the Parkland Historical Society, the City of Tamarac and City of Coral Springs whom are also celebrating their 50th anniversary, a Tri-City Car Ride featuring the elected officials from all three municipalities will take place on Sunday, April 28th.
In honor of Coral Springs Swim Head Coach Michael Lohberg’s life and amazing coaching abilities, the City of Coral Springs is naming the 50-meter pool at the Aquatic Complex in remembrance of him. Lohberg trained at the Aquatic Complex for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He coached at six Olympic Games having qualified swimmers for every Olympics from 1984 to 2008.
Local teens were invited to show off their culinary skills at the City’s third annual Teen Cook Off. Teams were given the same ingredients, provided by Whole Foods Market Coral Springs, and made barbeque ribs and a side dish.
Summer is the perfect time to learn how to swim and take full advantage of the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Most summer class sessions consist of eight 45-minute classes, and cost $55. Registration begins on April 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Aquatic Complex. As of April 29, registration will be taken at all pools during operational hours.

On Saturday evening, a Coral Springs man was arrested after allegedly striking his girlfriend on her knee with a machete.
According to the affidavit, Coral Springs Police arrested Asael Rodriguez, 38, of the 9000 block of NW 40th Street after responding to a call by his girlfriend, Adamina Cavaballo, where police noticed a cut approximately one inch long on her right knee and a small scratch approximately three inches long on her face.
