It amazes me how much the local media does not understand how our government works.
They write stories and post on blogs about how contentious some of our debates on the dais get on any given Tuesday during Broward County Commission meetings.
One thing they do not realize is that a Florida law forces this to happen: It is called the Sunshine Law.
District Three which covers Parkland, Coral Springs, Tamarac, and half of North Lauderdale has been has been represented by Stacy Ritter since 2006. Ritter, a Democrat will be running again this year and has competition with Robert W. Sutton. Sutton, a Republican currently teaches High School with Broward County Schools.
Broward Commissioner Stacy Ritter speaks with Broward County Property Appraiser Lori Parrish. In part 1 Stacy introduces Lori and the two talk discuss what the Property Appraiser’s Office does including how the office appraises Broward County homes.
One of our eagle-eyed readers spotted this rare sighting at the Sportsplex in Coral Springs.
In a part of South Florida that’s predominately liberal, someone actually found a conservative and shared it today.

Tamarac Resident Julie Shapiro-Harris kicked off her run for Circuit Court Judge on December 4th with a party at the home of Kim Miller of Coral Springs.
Besides being an attorney, Shapiro-Harris has a Masters Degree in social work. She currently works as a staff attorney for the Broward County Clerk of Court Domestic Violence Unit where she is part of a division that seeks to protect victims of domestic violence.
