A Coral Springs man has been arrested and charged with raping a woman he met online on a dating website a week prior.
According to police, Robert William Hays, 32, was sitting with the victim in the parking lot of his apartment complex on October 17 when she told him she didn’t want to continue dating him. Hays then grabbed her purse and ran into the apartment. The victim ran behind him into the apartment, and he locked the door behind her. She immediately pushed the panic button on her car’s key fob to get the neighbor’s attention; however, Hays became enraged, having a physical altercation with her and injured her hands while she held onto her keys.
The suspect would not leave the victim alone and kept her purse to prevent her from calling 911 on her cellphone. He then forced her to sit on the ground in the hallway, where he digitally penetrated her vagina. He then forced her into the master bedroom, and without her consent, penetrated her vagina with his penis. He did not use a condom when he ejaculated into her.
The victim was able to get away, contact the police, and later go to the Broward County Sexual Assault Treatment Center.
Hays was identified and taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Main Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Hays has serious mental health issues. I am disappointed that his 2011 DV case in PBC wasn’t included in this story to show pattern behavior. Anyone that encounters him should steer clear and just head in the other direction. One day his aggression is going to go too far & he will kill someone. Prior to this story he assulted at least 4 other women, which includes 2011 case.
It is terrifying to me that Hays was released after this. He is a very dangerous person who continues to evade the law. He has a criminal history- domestic violence as well as countless other arrests in multiple states which haven’t led to any real justice. He is extremely dangerous and if you come in contact with him, please steer clear.

Michelle Fandino, didn’t you stab him in the chest and he covered for you? You could’ve gone to prison for years because you attempted to kill him. No wonder you had a tumultuous relationship.
Sounds like Mr. Hays is just a wonderful guy in the wrong place at the wrong time multiple times in his life.
You allow comments like “piece of shit”, and all of these derogatory comments towards someone, but not the fact that he was found not guilty of rape, or the fact that at least two of the commenters physically hit and tried to kill the man. This is slander and you should be ashamed of yourself.
You can thank the Broward County State Atty’s Office. The police gather facts and evidence, then the ball is in the court of the prosecutor. Plea bargains are a way of life at the SAO. The number of cases disposed of by actual trial are tiny. Violent criminals are emboldened. They are free to victimize more.
