On Wednesday, residents headed to the Coral Springs Charter School for a candlelight vigil to pay their respects to the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting.
Organized by both Kasia Wiech, a recent graduate of Coral Springs Charter and Gabi Pineros, a senior, their motivation was to do something – anything to help the victims.
“We did raise $1,152.63 dollars,” said Wiech. “I think the vigil and blood drive were a success. So many people came out to show their love and support and it meant the world to me.”
Weich wanted to thank Encore, the Coral Springs Charter chorus group, as well as the people that donated items, or volunteered their time including: Rianne Mersch, Zoë Hackshaw, Roberto Henao, Quinn Reeves, Daniela Gálvez, Rachel Rusian, Jose Obregon, Jacqueline Careccia, Marianne Ghantous, Maria Sarralde, Jonathan Gil, Kristina Trejo and Katy Ramjattan.
Weich said donations are still being collected, and those that would like to donate can still go to either the official GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/PulseVictimsFund or donate directly to the employees of the Pulse Nightclub at pulseorlandoclub.com.
