A new date has been confirmed after the Teen Political Forum was cancelled in March due to the storms that blew into Broward County that day. The new date will be on April 24, and all local teens are still invited to participate.
The 2014 Teen Political Forum, an open mic style forum where students will address state and local elected officials and ask questions that are important to them. This is a chance for students to earn service hours while learning first hand how local and state government works.
Rescheduled for Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 pm at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, high school students who live in Coral Springs or attend local Coral Springs high schools, are invited to attend this educational and leadership-building event.
Featured at the Forum along with the Coral Springs City Commission, will be Broward County Commissioner Stacy Ritter, School board members Robin Bartleman, Donna Korn and Abby Freedman. Also there will be Coral Springs Chief of Police Tony Pustizzi and newly appointed Fire Chief Frank Babinec.
Last year, over 350 high school students representing Coral Springs High, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, Coral Glades High, Coral Springs Charter, J. P. Taravella High and Coral Springs Christian Academy attended the event.
Before the official event starts, students will be treated to complimentary food items donated by local restaurants. Participants will also have the opportunity to win prizes and earn those much-desired service hours.
