Wok Box Fresh Asian Kitchen, an Asian-inspired quick-serve restaurant from Canada, will soon open its doors in Coral Springs.

The new restaurant, which is located at 2528 University Drive in the Royal Palm Plaza, is owned by local businessmen Paul Scholtes and Coral Springs resident Dan Ackerman.

Wok Box specializes in fresh, wok-cooked Asian cuisine, offering simple but extensive menu options influenced by the flavors of 10 Asian regions including Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Korea, China, Japan, India, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

“One of the main reason we came to this franchise is because the food is 100 percent fresh to order” said Paul Scholtes. “When you walk in, everything is freshly cooked for you.  We bring the food to you and we pick it up after you.”

The main meals consist of fresh stir-fry noodle boxes, rice boxes, and Asian street tacos. After choosing their base, customers pick from one of five proteins – grilled chicken, grilled beef, grilled pork, wok’d shrimp or wok’d tofu – before further customizing their meal with a selection of eight signature sauces and 14 toppings. There are also six classic boxes to choose from.

“We have a build-your-own-box where you can take the things you like and change it up in their own colorful to-go containers that are soak proof and are larger than the typical Chinese food box,” said Scholtes.

In addition to the three main entrée categories, Wok Box offers Asian salads and small bites like spring rolls, chicken gyozas, edamame, bang bang shrimp, and cheesy kimchi fire balls. Many dishes can be made vegetarian, vegan or wheat-free, and in most cases are served in five minutes or less.

“We’re totally different than anything else in the local market, providing eager eaters with a craving for Asian-inspired meals fresh and affordable options,” said Scholtes. “We’re not just Japanese, Chinese, or Thai. We offer a variety of multi-faceted flavors under one roof.”

Wok Box will be opening up the week of August 24, 2015.  No date has been announced at this time.
