In her first campaign appearance for President Obama this election, Caroline Kennedy made a stop in Broward County on Thursday, March 22 to connect with Women for Obama supporters. Marking this week’s two year anniversary of the passage of the Affordable Care Act, Kennedy reminded the packed crowd about President’s leadership on health care reform that protects Americans.
Supporters of Dan Daley gathered for a “Meet and Greet” in his honor on Tuesday at Meyer’s Latin Flair in Coral Springs. Daley is a candidate for Vince Boccard’s open seat in the Coral Springs City commission in November as Boccard will be running for Mayor.
On Thursday, the Coral Springs/Parkland Democratic Club invited speaker Jack Lieberman to discuss the prospects for Israeli-Palestinian Resolution this spring. He spoke about Obama’s strong support of Israel and disputed the myth that Jews are now becoming Republicans.
Just about every city in Broward County has an official website. The city website is a great source of information that saves them time and money by having important information available all in one place so residents can access it easily without contacting their staff. This website may be the first place a potential resident may go to find out more information about the city that they they are moving to or it may be the first place a business goes to find information about the city, or to bid on future projects.
It amazes me how much the local media does not understand how our government works.
They write stories and post on blogs about how contentious some of our debates on the dais get on any given Tuesday during Broward County Commission meetings.
One thing they do not realize is that a Florida law forces this to happen: It is called the Sunshine Law.
District Three which covers Parkland, Coral Springs, Tamarac, and half of North Lauderdale has been has been represented by Stacy Ritter since 2006. Ritter, a Democrat will be running again this year and has competition with Robert W. Sutton. Sutton, a Republican currently teaches High School with Broward County Schools.

Tamarac Resident Julie Shapiro-Harris kicked off her run for Circuit Court Judge on December 4th with a party at the home of Kim Miller of Coral Springs.
Besides being an attorney, Shapiro-Harris has a Masters Degree in social work. She currently works as a staff attorney for the Broward County Clerk of Court Domestic Violence Unit where she is part of a division that seeks to protect victims of domestic violence.
