Paragon Theaters in Coral Springs Now Open: Health and Safety a Top Priority

Let’s all go to the movies may not be the first phrase that comes to mind these days, but as Broward County venues reopen, safety concerns are a top priority.

Movie theaters are on the list of those who have implemented enhanced health and safety measures, but is it enough to get fans into their reclining seats?

Paragon Coral Square, which reopened on September 3, has a list of new protocols they’re following to keep movie-goers safe.

“We’re doing everything we can to go above and beyond to make people feel really comfortable in the theater,” said Paragon Marketing Director Don Edwards, Jr.

In addition to following state and local guidelines, the theater also participates in CinemaSafe, a program promoting protocols and guidelines developed and supported by leading epidemiologists to support a safe return to movie theaters.

Currently only utilizing half of the auditoriums, the theater has far fewer showings to allow for enhanced after-show cleanups.

“Every seat is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, even the ones that aren’t used,” said Edwards.

They have also reduced the capacity and staggered seating in pairs. And in addition to implementing social distancing requirements, the crew is responsible for cleaning high contact areas every 30 minutes.

“The New Hepa filters which are effective in removing 99.97% of bacteria and virus carriers set us apart from others,” said Edwards.

The highly anticipated spy movie Tenet, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, opened on September 3– the first big film released after the pandemic shutdown.

“A lot may depend on how well this film does this weekend,” Edwards said, “We have been actively selling tickets and communicating with fans on social media, but it’s definitely going to be very different than in the past.”
