Two Broward County Politicians will soon become expatriates when they head off to a new life in Panama in June.

Former Broward County School Board Member, David Thomas, and his wife Cindy, who sits on Broward Soil and Water Conservation District, are teachers at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs where David teaches AP Psychology and Cindy teaches AP American History.

In celebration of the City’s 50th anniversary, local high school students, along with special guests, will present “Once Upon a Dream: A Musical Celebration of Coral Springs.” A project of the Coral Springs Community Chest, the musical parody will highlight the City’s history, told through fun songs and stories from the past five decades, while offering insight into how Coral Springs became what it is today.

City recognizes Coral Springs Charter School for ‘A’ rating

Last week, the Florida Department of Education released the 2011-2012 high school grade results. Coral Springs Charter, along with Coral Glades High, Coral Springs High, J.P. Taravella High, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, all received an ‘A’ rating based on students’ performance relative to state standards, graduation rates, participation and success in accelerated courses, and postsecondary preparation.

Coral Springs High School Seniors Receive Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships

The Coral Springs City Commission recognized 13 deserving high school seniors who were awarded Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships for their freshman year in college.
With the generous assistance of the Coral Springs Community Chest as the major donor, the Coral Springs Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee was able to match their contribution, as well as supplement the Scholarship fund further by donations from various individuals and businesses in the community.
