Coral Springs Charter Softball Pitcher Brianna Godfrey Makes College Pick

Coral Springs’s Charter’s star pitcher Brianna Godfrey will continue playing softball in college, committing to Marshall University in West Virginia.

“Committing means everything to me,” Godfrey said. “I’ve always dreamed of playing D1 softball, and I was finally able to make that a reality.”

Since she was in sixth grade, Godfrey has played in the varsity softball team and won four state championships. In her career, she has had 41 wins and an ERA of .73. Godfrey also is a lifetime .468 hitter, and has hit four home runs, drove in 71 RBI’s, and scored 87 runs while playing with the Panthers. Godfrey also plays travel softball for the Tampa Mustangs, who rank sixth in the country.

Along the way, Godfrey could not be more thankful for her family for all their support. She also credits Coach Mark Montimurro and Coach Steph, and Coach T.J. Goelz. Godfrey says the decision to attend Marshall came down to the family environment, coaching staff, and relationships she made with former players.

“Knowing Brianna as well as I do and having a strong relationship with the Marshall coaching staff, this is a great fit for all involved,” Coach Montimurro said. “Bri is a dynamic player that will step in and contribute right away and will be coached and cared for at the highest of levels.”

Godfrey will still have another season with the Panthers but will be attending a program in Marhsall that went 20-13 in 2021. Before that, they won 18 games in the shortened 2020 season and then 42 in 2019 while making it to the National Invitational Softball Championship.
