Candidates running for local office in Coral Springs in November must qualify for election this week.
The city’s qualifying period for the November 5, 2024 election runs from noon on Monday, June 10, until noon on Friday, June 14.
The only city race with more than one announced candidate so far is the Seat 5 commission seat, currently held by Commissioner Joy Cooper.
Community leader Jose “Joe” Morera and Joe McHugh, a Coral Springs Police lieutenant, are competing for the seat. Carter cannot seek reelection due to term limits.
Two incumbent commission seats, Mayor Scott Brook and Commissioner Nancy Metayer Bowen, are also up for grabs in November. No one has announced a challenge to either candidate.

Candidates seeking seats up for grabs in Florida’s House of Representatives and Senate must also qualify during the period of June 10 through June 14.
Democratic Rep. Dan Daley, whose district includes parts of Coral Springs and Tamarac, is up for reelection. No challengers have filed to run against him.
