Coral Springs High School star Alex Pierre-Louis has officially committed to playing college basketball at Santa Fe College.
“Officially committing felt amazing,” Pierre Louis said. “I used to dream about these days. It felt like a dream come true, signing the documents sent to me.”
Pierre-Louis began playing basketball in elementary school and often played at the firefighters’ park. He spent time on various teams and began with Coach Knight, where Pierre-Louis said he was able to develop into the hooper he is now. Pierre-Louis won three championships at the park, played for Badboys until eighth grade, and then switched to the Florida Pro.
Pierre-Louis reached 1,000 points in high school and finished his senior year averaging 22.3 points per game. He ranked 24th in Florida in field goals with 217 and 470th nationally with 79 made three-pointers, scoring 42 points in a game this year.
Pierre-Louis also scored in double figures in all 28 games this year, during which the Colts went 18-10 and reached the District Championship before falling to St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
For college, Pierre-Louis went with his gut and just knew it would be the right decision.
“The head coach was great,” Pierre-Louis added. “The atmosphere smelled like home, and it was a great opportunity in Florida. I also went for consistency and whoever seemed like they needed me the most.”
He will play for a college team that won 11 games last season and hopes to improve his hit motor before playing at the next level.
“I have some fuel but definitely need a lot more to get to my full potential,” Pierre-Louis said. “I will also try to improve on defense and lock down the opponent in front of me.”
