The show features Broward County high schools going head-to-head, highlights intellectual student talent, and serves as a positive educational tool for students and teachers.
This year’s season features 16 qualifying high school teams, including Boyd Anderson, Cooper City, Coral Springs High School, Coral Glades, Cypress Bay, Doral Academy, Nova, Coral Reef, Hallandale, McArthur, Millennium, Miramar, Monarch, Park Vista, Coral Springs Charter, Boca Raton, Blanche Ely, South Plantation, West Broward, Western, Olympic Heights, Hollywood Hills, North Miami, and G. The 12-show series features four-person teams competing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the School Duel champion. To participate, 67 high schools in the area competed in an online test, and the top 20 schools made it to the televised rounds.
Students on the winning team each receive Chick-fil-A vouchers for an entire year, and the runner-up team receives prizes from sponsors, including cash prizes for each student, courtesy of BrightStar Credit Union and Publix Supermarkets.
All participants receive School Duel trophies from EDCO Awards & Specialties.
