Saint Andrew Catholic Church will be hosting its 18th Annual Thanksgiving Day dinner serving hundreds of meals to those in the area.
Volunteers will be serving meals on Thanksgiving Day from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and those who don’t have someone to share Thanksgiving with are welcome to join them.
Created 18 years ago by their pastor for those who didn’t have a place to go for Thanksgiving, the meals are bought and cooked by the parishioners and every year they get a great volunteer turnout.
According to past men’s club president Tim Scanlon, this year, the parish bought 75 frozen turkeys and parishioners purchase, or “adopt” them, cook them from their homes, then return them to the parish Wednesday night where they prepare them for Thanksgiving Day.
Each year over 1,300 to 1,500 meals are served within the two-hour time-frame.
Scanlon said to please arrive between those times and guests will be seated for a sit-down Thanksgiving meal. They do have take-out available as well. Donations are always appreciated.
