Imagine Charter School at Broward will be recognized for its commitment to education at Wednesday’s city commission meeting by Mayor Scott Brook in consensus for recognition.
Located at 9001 Westview Drive, the school received the Cognia Schools of Distinction award in November. Cognia is a nonprofit primary and secondary school accreditation organization dedicated to providing institutions and education providers to grow learners, teachers, and leaders, according to their website.
According to the city, the distinction is rewarded to schools that demonstrate high-quality instruction, show consistent organizational effectiveness, maintain a drive for improvement, and stand out in their services to learners.
The school demonstrated excellence in meeting Cognia performance standards during the 2020-2021 school year and subsequently earned the 2021 Schools of Distinction award.
Imagine Broward is one of 79 schools worldwide to receive the award.
Principal Debra Darling said that the school began preparing in 2020 for its five-year accreditation renewal in a city document. After the organization visited, the school found out that not only did they receive reaccreditation, but they also earned some of the highest scores in the country.
The organization serves 36,000 public and private institutions from early learning through high school in 85 countries.
