A Coral Springs man angered over his car being towed allegedly gave chase to the tow truck driver during a vehicular pursuit, pointed a gun at the man, threw objects at his truck, and told the man he would “follow you and kick your ass,” court records show.
Abraham Taylor, 34, of Northwest 90th Ave., is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon for the Jan. 7 meltdown, which began after a driver from Emergency Towing in Margate towed Taylor’s vehicle from the parking lot of his apartment complex—something the company had done several times prior, according to an arrest affidavit.
Taylor, driving a white Chevy Colorado Z71, drove alongside the tow truck driver multiple times “screaming, honking his horn and throwing objects at his tow truck” on several streets in Coral Springs, the records allege.
At University Drive and Royal Palm Boulevard, with the tow truck stopped at a red light, Taylor pulled beside the truck driver and pointed a black pistol at him out his driver’s side window, police said in the affidavit.
Taylor later told police he was “unhappy about the treatment he received” from the tow company.
He was booked into the Broward Mail Jail and released on a $2,500 bond, records show.
