Omani Nickoy Prince {BSO}
An ankle monitor helped Coral Springs police identify an 18-year-old suspect accused of participating in the robbery of a FedEx delivery driver.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Omani Nickoy Prince, 18, of Tamarac, faces charges of strong-armed robbery stemming from an October 3 incident in which two men allegedly confronted a FedEx driver attempting to deliver a package to a home in Coral Springs.
According to an arrest affidavit, the driver was delivering a package in the 2600 block of Northwest 106th Drive when she encountered two men who allegedly insisted the package belonged to one of them.
Investigators said Prince, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, approached the driver and claimed the package was his, despite being told it was addressed to someone else.
After determining the package could not be delivered, the driver returned to her FedEx truck. Police said the second suspect followed her, forced his way into the vehicle, and struggled with her over the package.
The confrontation caused the driver to fall from the truck onto the ground, where the suspect allegedly overpowered her and forcibly took the package from her hands. According to the affidavit, Prince remained nearby and watched the struggle before fleeing with the other suspect in a vehicle.
The driver told detectives she specifically remembered Prince wearing an electronic monitoring device around his ankle. That detail would become an important piece of evidence.
Investigators obtained electronic monitoring records that allegedly placed Prince near the robbery. They also reviewed automated license plate reader data, Ring doorbell footage from the residence, and surveillance video recorded by the FedEx truck.
Police said surveillance footage showed the second suspect entering the FedEx truck and physically struggling with the driver while Prince remained outside, watching the confrontation.
According to arrest records, authorities arrested Prince on October 9 after locating him in Lauderhill. They booked him into the Broward County Main Jail and initially held him without bond.
The arrest report does not indicate that authorities have taken the second suspect in the robbery into custody.
