Baseball Players From Coral Springs Receive County Awards

After another successful baseball season, J.P. Taravella, Coral Springs Charter, and Coral Glades had 13 baseball players receive county awards.

J.P. Taravella Baseball Team Wins HSBN First Pitch Elite Tournament

Jassiel Valbuena: First Team

Jassiel Valbuena of J.P. Taravella was named to the First Team All-Conference after hitting .355 with two home runs and 19 RBIs. He set to play at Indian River State College next year after helping the Trojans reach the Regional Semifinals. 

Matt Rubin: Second Team

Doing most of the catching this season, Matt Rubin, also playing at Indian River State College in the fall, made the Second Team All-Conference. The senior hit .333 with two home runs and 20 RBIs. 

Vincent Samuel: Second Team

Vincent Samuel is the third Trojans player to commit to Indian River State College and also made the second team All-Conference. He led the team with five homers and also had a team-high 21 RBIs.

Chris Scinta: Second Team

The final member of the Second Team All-Conference is left-hander Chris Scinta. The University of Miami signee went 5-0 this year with an ERA of 1.03. He also struck out 56 hitters in 34 innings. 

Ryan Meekins: Honorable Mention

Ryan Meekins was an Honorable Mention to the All-Conference Team after going 3-0 this year. The right-hander also had an ERA under 2.00 with 34 strikeouts this year in 24.1 innings. 

Derek Rodriguez: Honorable Mention

In his first season with J.P. Taravella, Derek Rodriguez not only led the County in ERA but also led in saves. Rodriguez allowed only one run in 14 innings this year from the bullpen. Rodriguez is playing college baseball at St. Thomas University

E.J. Burns: Honorable Mention

In his sophomore season, E.J. Burns played well with a home run and eight RBIs. He also had 11 hits this season, with two of them going for extra bases. 

Brandon Metivier: Honorable Mention

In 14 appearances this season, Brandon Metiver pitched to an ERA of .84. He also sent 1-1 on the mound and had 35 strikeouts in 24 innings.

A.J. Prendergast: First Team

Senior A.J. Prendergast landed himself a spot on the First Team All-Conference. The University of Flagler signee completed his high school career with a strong season going 3-1 with an ERA of 1.61. He also threw the third no-hitter of his career.

Gavin Gargiulo: Second Team

Gavin Gargiulo completed his sophomore season with the Panthers and made the Second Team All-Conference. The UCF commit hit .343 this year with ten RBIs and went 4-0 on the mound.

Andrew Alison: Honorable Mention

Sophomore Andrew Allison had a terrific sophomore season with the Jaguars, both at the plate and on the mound. He hit .375 with a homer and also made struck out nearly two batters an inning in nine appearances.

Evan Puccio: Honorable Mention

Evan Puccio led Coral Glades in batting at .382, stolen bases with 18, and RBIs with 13. He also hit one of the team’s three home runs this year.

Emanuel Sohit: Honorable Mention

In his senior year with the Jaguars, Emanuel Sohit dominated on the mound with an ERA of 1.27. He went 5-2 this year and is set to play college baseball at the University of Fort Lauderdale.
