Broward County Animal Care is inviting residents to “score big” this Super Bowl week by adopting a pet during the nationwide Great American Rescue Bowl, a weeklong adoption push aimed at finding homes for shelter animals.
The county’s official pet adoption and animal welfare agency has partnered with North Shore Animal League America to promote pet adoptions through Sunday, Feb. 8, with events taking place daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Broward County Animal Care shelter in Fort Lauderdale.
Throughout the week, each adoption will be entered into a raffle for a football-themed gift basket. Pets adopted on Sunday, Feb. 8, will also go home with a special gift bag, giving both families and pets something extra to celebrate.
“Every pet deserves a chance to be a hero in someone’s life,” said Doug Brightwell, director of Broward County Animal Care. “During the Great American Rescue Bowl, we’re inviting the community to step up to the line and bring home a loving companion. It’s your chance to score a touchdown in the game of life — by saving one.”
According to a press release, the event is designed to highlight the importance of adoption while helping more animals find permanent homes during one of the year’s biggest sports weeks.
Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. More information about adoptable pets and adoption requirements is available at Broward.org/Animal.
