The Coral Glades football team resumed its suspended game from Friday night on Monday and secured a 21-10 victory behind an incredible performance from McKendrick Thomas.
After Ethan Ortega recovered a fumble in the end zone for the game’s opening touchdown before the weather delay, the Jaguars needed just one play on Monday to score again. Channing Casey connected with Thomas on a long touchdown pass to double the lead.
The duo connected again on fourth down for Thomas’ second touchdown reception, while the Jaguars came up with a fourth-down stop in the red zone to take a 21-point lead into halftime.
Despite being held scoreless in the second half, Coral Glades played strong defense. Thomas, who recorded an interception on Friday, added two more on Monday to finish with three in the game. John Paul also recorded an interception to help seal the victory.
The Jaguars improved to 3-5 and will face Boyd H. Anderson High School on Thursday, October 22, at 7 p.m. The Cobras are 2-5 this season, with wins over Hollywood Hills and Stranahan High School after going 0-9 last year.
