The Coral Glades High School marching band celebrated a straight superior rating at the Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Music Performance Assessment (MPA) at Cypress Bay High School on October 19.
According to band director Alexander Sanchez, this was the first time the Jaguars marching band accomplished the highest rating possible since 2016. The band is evaluated on how it performs music, its visual appearance, auxiliaries, and percussion.
“We are seeing rewards for all the work we have been putting in over the years,” said Sanchez, who added they are looking forward to more success this season.
On November 2, the Jaguars will compete at Park Vista High School in Boynton Beach, and on November 16, they will participate in the Florida Marching Band Championships at John I. Leonard High School in Greenacres.
Jasmin Alarcon, the drum major and sophomore, is proud of the band’s accomplishments. “It felt good to get a straight superior rating. It means all our hard work has paid off,” she said.
