The Coral Springs Middle School Band program is hitting all the right notes this year, with the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble receiving Superior Ratings at the recent Music Performance Assessment (MPA).
Under the direction of Band Director Alexander Arcia, the Symphonic Band earned an Overall Superior rating. At the same time, the Wind Ensemble received the highest possible honor: Straight Superior ratings from all judges.
Arcia, who joined the Coral Springs Middle School faculty in 2021, is currently in his fourth year of teaching and has significantly impacted the program. Many of his students have earned coveted chairs in Middle and High School All-County and All-State bands.
According to Maria Gutierrez, Treasurer of the Stallions Music Booster Club, Inc., Arcia’s mission is to provide a high-quality, enjoyable, and motivating musical experience for his students. His teaching philosophy emphasizes autonomy, mastery, and purpose through music, which benefits their musicianship and enhances their attributes of being driven, intelligent, self-sufficient, and hardworking.
“Mr. Arcia and the school believe these values will help students succeed in any career they pursue beyond high school.”
The Stallions Music Booster Club, parents, and staff are proud to see the dedication of these young musicians recognized at the district level—and hope to continue sharing their success with the community.
