A senior at Coral Springs Charter School is in the news again, just after two walk-off hits won games against Pompano Beach High School in March and another against Somerset Academy last week.
Derek Kreisler, third baseman for the Panthers varsity baseball team, asked his girlfriend, Julia Dicaprio, to the prom in eight little words that made a huge impression.
‘Julia, will you go to the prom with me?’ lit up the Jumbotron at Mark Light Field on Monday night at the University of Miami.
Julia, a varsity volleyball player at CSCS, said yes, and the couple is headed to Prom Night at the Signature Grand Hotel on May 7.
A resident of Coral Springs, Derek has been a student-athlete at CSCS for four years. His younger sister, Kayla, also attends the charter school.
Due to a commitment with his baseball team, Derek was unavailable for comment.
His mother, Kristeena Kreisler, told Coral Springs Talk that her son is really excited about not just prom but attending FAU in the fall.
“I wish he’d keep playing baseball. Even though he plans to major in business, I know his winning streak will keep going.”
