Financing was made available for sidewalk improvements during the October 21 meeting.
The commission passed a resolution allocating $110,000 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plan funding to the NW 39th Court project between Coral Hills Drive and Coral Springs Drive.
The commission also approved a contract for professional engineering design services for the NW 39th Court sidewalk path project for Kimley Horn and Associates of Raleigh, North Carolina, for $205,000.
The Coral Springs Police Department will receive additional funding. The commission approved a request to authorize the use of $348,815 in Law Enforcement Trust Funds. This will provide $250,000 to pay for seasonal school resource officers’ salaries, including paying $75,000 for overtime expenses.
The department also anticipates reimbursement from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Money Laundering and Narcotics Task Force. This will cover the annual donation of $15,000 to the Coral Springs Police Explorers and the annual contribution of $8,815 to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, according to Police Chief Brad Mock.
