First place and a $750 scholarship were awarded to Maya Simunek, a Coral Springs resident attending the Dillard Center for the Arts. Simunek, who submitted digital art and drawings, is noted for her high academic achievements and extensive recognition in art. She plans to attend the Ringling College of Art and Design.
The $500 Michele Pennetti Memorial Scholarship went to Miyka’el Leonardo from Coral Springs Charter School for his graphic realism drawings. He is involved in various school activities, including drama and journalism, and plans to major in graphic design at Broward College.
Valentina Rodriguez, a student at Coral Springs Charter School, received the $500 Sky Belcher Memorial Scholarship for her colorful portraits of young women. Rodriguez is also active in her school’s drama and music programs and plans to pursue a BFA in Studio Art at the University of Central Florida.
The Coral Springs Craft Guild, a 501(c)3 organization, supports the community through various charitable activities and raises funds for its scholarships through raffles and donations. Its Craft Show and Holiday Boutique will be held on September 27-28, 2024, at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Coral Springs.
