Jone Ribeiro {BSO}
A Coral Springs man is facing domestic violence charges after allegedly hitting his father during an argument that began when the father asked a prostitute his son had brought home to leave.
According to the Coral Springs Police report, on September 27, officers responded to a family home where the victim told police that his son, Jone Ribeiro, 32, had spent the day drinking alcohol with a woman he described as a prostitute.
When the father asked the woman to leave, she complied, according to the arrest report.
After she left, records show Ribeiro allegedly became enraged, shouting verbal threats and telling his father he was going to “beat his ass,” the report says. Standing within two feet of his father, Ribeiro continued yelling and refused to calm down or leave.
The father told officers he placed a hand on Ribeiro’s shoulder in an attempt to escort him out of the home. Ribeiro then punched his father in the face, splitting his lip, according to the report. The father said he pushed his son away before calling 911.
When police arrived, they noted the victim’s lip injury and described him as “visibly shaken.”
Statements from the victim’s wife and daughter corroborated the account, police said. The daughter told officers she overheard the argument from another room and heard her brother make death threats toward their father.
When questioned, Ribeiro appeared intoxicated and repeatedly interrupted officers. He admitted his father had been upset about the woman he brought home, but denied assaulting him.
Ribeiro was arrested and transferred to the Broward County Main Jail. He was released after posting a $2,000 bond.
