The City of Coral Springs has received a statewide planning award for its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, recognizing the city’s efforts to advance community development through collaboration.
According to a city press release, the American Planning Association’s Florida chapter presented the city with an Award of Excellence in the Implementation Project category at the 2026 Florida Planning Conference, held in October in Miami.
The award recognizes planning projects that demonstrate effective implementation, collaboration and positive community impact.
According to the city, its partnership with Habitat for Humanity illustrates how local governments and nonprofit organizations can work together to address community needs and create opportunities for residents.
“This award reflects the City of Coral Springs’ commitment to strategic planning, strong partnerships, and creating opportunities that make a lasting difference in our community,” said Tina Jou, the city’s director of development services.
“Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity demonstrates what can be accomplished when we work together toward shared goals. I’m proud of the teamwork and dedication that helped bring this important project to life.”
The Florida chapter’s annual Project Awards recognize planning initiatives in several categories, including development, conservation, public engagement and project implementation.
“Each year, these awards showcase the important role planning plays in shaping vibrant, resilient communities,” said Allara Mills-Gutcher, president of the American Planning Association’s Florida chapter, in announcing this year’s recipients.
City officials said the recognition reflects Coral Springs’ continued focus on community planning and partnerships designed to benefit residents.
