Thirteen Coral Springs families received not only the keys to their new homes Thursday, but also handmade gifts to help make them feel even more welcome.
On May 22, the Coral Springs Quilt Guild donated 13 quilts and 13 wall hangings to Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s newest homeowners during a dedication ceremony for newly constructed houses on Riverside Drive, just north of Sample Road.
Each quilt and wall hanging was crafted by guild members and presented as a housewarming gift to families receiving homes. The recipient families included Bonet, Dulcio, Francisco, Francoeur, Gayle-White, Gonzales, Jordan, Khadaran, Lenard, Louissant, McCalla, Occeans, and Smith/Fernandes.
The Coral Springs Quilt Guild meets on the first Saturday of each month at St. Mary Magdalene and St. Martin Episcopal Church on Riverside Drive. Members regularly create quilts for charitable causes and look for ways to support the local community through their craft.
