A dogsitter has been arrested and charged with video voyeurism after the woman he worked for discovered a hidden camera in her bathroom upon returning from a work trip.
According to records, a warrant was issued on July 8 for the arrest of the man, identified in records as Jonathan Edward King, 35, of Coral Springs, after a woman came forward claiming she had contacted King to request assistance with walking and feeding dogs while she traveled to Tampa.
King agreed to help and was given access to the victim’s residence during her absence on June 23. Upon her return the next day, the victim located a small, black camera concealed under a towel within a small black box in the corner of her jacuzzi-style bathtub, positioned to record the shower area.
The victim promptly contacted law enforcement and handed over the camera for investigation.
On June 25, investigators reviewed the footage stored on the camera’s SD card. The recordings revealed two pieces of footage depicting the victim fully unclothed and actively showering.
The following day, the victim met with investigators and confirmed she was the individual in the footage. She was also shown a photograph of King and positively identified him as placing the camera in her bathroom.
According to records, the victim ensured detectives that King was the only person with access to her residence on the day in question.
On June 28, the victim participated in a controlled phone call with King under the supervision of law enforcement. During the call, King admitted to placing the camera in the victim’s bathroom.
Initially, King claimed he purchased the camera as a gift due to a lack of residential security but later stated that he placed it as a “prank.”
On the same day, King sent the victim an apologetic text message: “Hey, I just want to say I’m sorry. I fucked up. I don’t know why I do things. You deserve better. I am not okay. I won’t bother you anymore.”
On July 8, CSPD received unrelated reports of a suspicious vehicle behind a closed business in Coral Springs. During a routine inquiry, deputies discovered the car to be driven by King, which revealed an active warrant for his arrest.
King was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released after posting $7,500.
