A man faces multiple charges, including battery on a police officer and of a woman, after his erratic behavior spilled over from fights with staff inside a Coral Springs Dunkin’ Donuts into arguments with vehicles on the road.
On May 11, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to reports of a man, later identified as Zacharie Deme Dalpe, 28, of Miramar, acting erratically near the Dunkin’ Donuts located at 2290 Coral Springs Drive.
According to records, witnesses described to officers a male, later identified as Dalpe, wearing a white t-shirt and tan pants, acting aggressively, pushing over garbage cans, and threatening people.
Upon arriving at the scene, CSPD officers encountered Dalpe in the middle of traffic on Royal Palm Boulevard, yelling at vehicles. As officers approached the situation, the report indicates a store clerk pointed to Dalpe and said, “That’s him,” confirming he was the man witnesses had called the police about.
To diffuse the situation, officers instructed Dalpe to have a seat on the curb, but he refused multiple requests and continued to make phone calls after being asked not too numerous times.
During the officers’ encounter with Dalpe, a female victim approached and tearfully stated that he had either pushed or touched her. The report shows that officers reassured her and requested she waits to be interviewed while they attempted to get Dalpe under control.
As additional officers arrived at the scene, records indicate Dalpe was handcuffed for his lack of compliance with their commands. Still, as he was placed in the back of the officer’s vehicle, he started kicking, causing significant damage to the driver’s side rear quarter panel.
With Dalpe in custody, the officer’s investigation revealed previously to their arrival, he had walked past the female victim and made inappropriate physical contact by grabbing her right buttock without consent.
The arrest report stated that while securing Dalpe to a gurney at Broward Health Coral Springs, he spat on officers leading to an additional battery charge on a law enforcement officer.
Following medical attention and clearance, Dalpe was arrested and charged with battery on a police officer, battery on a victim, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
Dalpe was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
