The Broward County School Board recently approved the appointment of Russell Schwartz as the new Principal of Park Trails Elementary School in Parkland.
After spending the past four years as Principal at McNab Elementary School in Pompano Beach, Schwartz replaces Principal Rick Redshaw who was recently appointed principal of Eagle Ridge Elementary in Coral Springs.
Working in public education for 16 years, Schwartz began his career in education in Orlando before becoming a 4th grade teacher at Park Trails 14 years ago. He has worked in Broward for Talent Development, as an Assistant Principal, and as a Principal.
Schwartz holds a Master of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and said he is humbled to be the new Principal at Park Trails Elementary School where he started his Broward career and said he looks forward to the opportunity to work alongside the community, students, and staff to continue the amazing tradition of excellence at Park Trails Elementary.
Park Trails Students, Families, and Community,
It is with absolute excitement and joy that I am writing to you to introduce (reintroduce for some) myself and welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year!!!
To start, my name is Russell Schwartz and I am the newly appointed principal of the great Park Trails Elementary. I return to Park Trails with 15 years of experience in education with the previous 4 serving as the principal of McNab Elementary. After beginning my teaching career in Orlando, I moved to south Florida and was hired at Park Trails Elementary by Ms. Renguso and Mr. King as a 4th grade teacher. My time at Park Trails was some of the most memorable of my career. The connections I made with the students and families were some of the most rewarding that I have experienced.
As principal of McNab Elementary, I worked together with faculty, staff, parents, community, and STUDENTS to provide a high-quality educational experience. The hard work of all led to great success despite many challenges facing education. The focus has always, and will always be, on the students.
I would like to also share that we are breaking open the lines of communication. You can join the Park Trails text message group that I will utilize to share important, time-sensitive information.
Also, you can begin following Park Trails on Twitter @ParkTrailsES and Instagram (@ParkTrailsES).
Thank you.
