Coral Springs’ first legal tattoo shop has undergone a transformation.
Formerly known as Timeless Craft Tattoo, the newly rebranded Levi & Lili Tattoo Company combines a spooky, fun vibe with its rich history.
The shop, headed by Michael “Fish” Fisher, who now prefers to be called “Levi Ethan Morgenstern”, has a new look that reflects its owner’s unique style.
The story of Coral Springs’ first legal tattoo shop dates back to 2001, a time when the city had no tattoo establishments and elected officials were wary of the idea.
After a prolonged effort, the previous owner, John Miller, managed to transition Whole Addiction from a piercing-only space to a fully legal tattoo and piercing studio.
Later named Timeless Craft Tattoo, the inaugural tattoo was inked by him in February 2003.
For over two decades, Levi — or Fish became a local icon, tattooing groups of friends, multiple generations of families, teens, the elderly, and survivors.
Despite his long-standing presence, many assumed he owned the shop, but it wasn’t until recent years that he took ownership and transformed it to reflect his personal style.
A lover of horror films, music, and quirky Hawaiian shirts, Levi has reinvented the space, stripping away the beige walls.
“I wanted to make the space mine. Before, it looked like an orthodontist’s office. I reinvented the studio in my image- a dark, spooky, fun image. Imagine Tim Burton directing The Addams Family in the Haunted Mansion,” Levi explained.
The revamped studio, now named the Levi & Lili Tattoo Company, features rebel-red walls adorned with art, memorabilia, and collectibles.
The eclectic decor includes everything from demons and Donkey Kong to pop culture weapons and vintage ephemera.
Levi isn’t alone in this endeavor. His wife, Lili, serves as his muse and partner. The couple’s dynamic is captured in a Tim Burton-esque portrait among the shop’s art pieces.
Together, they have spent years collecting stories, forging connections, and attracting talent from around the world to their Coral Springs studio.
Levi leads a team of skilled artists at Levi & Lili Tattoo Company. With 29 years of tattooing experience and 34 years in piercing, Levi specializes in illustrative black-and-grey realism, bold color work, and reworking or covering old tattoos.
Joining him is Tami Jo Urban, with 32 years of tattooing experience and a penchant for realism and surrealism. The team also includes Nicole, a detail-oriented tattoo apprentice who handles permanent makeup services, and Dakota, a seasoned piercer with over a decade of experience. Echo rounds out the staff, managing henna and jagua temporary tattoos, the front counter, and learning piercing under Dakota’s guidance. They are currently seeking one more tattoo artist to join their team.
Levi Ethan Morgenstern, a US Navy veteran, brings a unique perspective to his work. After two enlistments as a Hospital Corpsman, Levi’s medical training has given him a leg up in the tattoo industry, particularly in aseptic technique, cross-contamination awareness, and sterilization.
After relocating to Coral Springs from the DC/Baltimore Metro area in 2002 to seek a more affordable living situation, they have made Coral Springs their home, raising their three children in the community.
Levi started tattooing in Washington, D.C., in 1995 but moved to Coral Springs, where his wife’s family had relocated in the late 1990s. After working in a couple of other shops, Levi started at Whole Addiction in September 2002.
Ten years ago, they renovated the shop into Timeless Craft Tattoo. Three and a half years ago, Levi purchased the studio and, after allowing customers to get used to the idea that he was in charge, decided it was finally time to rename it to better suit his aesthetic.
Growing up on The Muppet Show, The Addams Family, and The Munsters, Levi has always looked for the beauty in the darker side of the world. His love for humorous spook shows like Nightmare Before Christmas and the Addams Family films inspired the retheming of the studio.
The Levi & Lili Tattoo Company invites everyone to visit them at 8083 W Sample Road, Coral Springs. You can also contact them at 954-753-4151.
