A pedestrian died from his injuries after being hit by a car early Sunday morning.
According to the Coral Springs Police Department, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Prince Dow, 59, from Coral Springs was walking southbound on the 8000 block of W. Sample Road intending to cross the roadway. He was struck by a 2006 BMW 325i heading westbound driven by Nixon R. Philius, 26, from Margate. Dow was transported from the scene to Broward Health North with serious injuries.
The police affidavit stated that Philius did not exit his vehicle to check on Dow, instead he fled the scene in his vehicle by turning north onto Riverside Drive. Police later found the BMW and Philius, near Riverside Dr. and Wiles Rd. Philius reportedly showed no remorse, but expressed concern about the damage to his BMW.
Dow was pronounced dead at Broward Health North due to serious head and other internal injuries. Philius was released for the time being.
