Dramatic footage released by Coral Springs Police on Monday shows a burglary suspect running from officers before a helicopter and police dog help track him down.
The chase began at 2:43 a.m. on April 13 when an officer spotted the man – who police said had attempted vehicle burglaries and burglarized occupied dwellings – and told him to sit on the sidewalk.
The video shows the man running on Riverside Drive before fleeing onto Northwest 5th Street, where he entered a home’s pool enclosure.
During this time, the suspect was being tracked from above by a Broward Sheriff’s Office helicopter, which radioed the man’s location to officers on the ground.
The footage shows that soon, police were searching with a K-9 and flooding the area where the suspect was trying to hide.
At 2:57 a.m., video shows the suspect handcuffed and being placed in the back of a police car.
Police did not immediately release the suspect’s name. They said he faces charges that include burglary of an occupied dwelling and obstruction.
