After being reappointed as vice mayor for Coral Springs on Wednesday, the National League of Cities announced Vice Mayor Joshua Simmons was appointed to its board of directors on Friday.
Comprised of the city, town, and village leaders focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents, the National League of Cities is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group.
Elected as a city commissioner in 2018, Vice Mayor Simmons was a former high school history teacher who changed his career trajectory by becoming an account manager at Hotwire Communications during his first term.
For now, the NLC meets virtually; however, according to Simmons, they have a conference coming up in March in Washington D.C., but whether they meet in person is uncertain at this time.
“I understand, the [NLC] position is huge because I get to help steer an organization comprised of over 2,700 municipalities nationwide,” he said.
In September, Simmons was appointed to the Florida League of Cities Advocacy Committee.
