Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek (TBTST) of Tamarac is preparing to open its doors to the community in a grand way.
On Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 10 a.m. until noon, the synagogue will host a special Open House and Mitzvah Day at its location, 5700 NW 94th Avenue.
This event is designed to welcome everyone from Broward County and beyond, providing an inside look into TBTST’s vibrant life and inclusive spirit.
This event is more than just an open house; it’s a celebration of community and service. Rooted in the Jewish commandment from Leviticus 19:18, “love your neighbor as yourself,” TBTST is devoted to living out this principle through various mitzvahs, or good deeds, programs.
The synagogue prides itself on being an egalitarian and inclusive Conservative congregation, welcoming Jews of all backgrounds, interfaith families, and LGBTQ families with open hearts and open doors.
Visitors to the Open House will have the opportunity to tour the beautiful facilities and sanctuary, meet with the TBTST clergy, leadership, and educators, and learn about membership options.
The synagogue offers a wide array of programs, including High Holy Day services and adult learning opportunities. Additionally, TBTST’s Educational Directors will be present to provide information on the Early Childhood Center, the Religious School, and the Youth Group, as well as to assist with school registration.
But the event doesn’t stop at exploration and information. The day will be filled with hands-on mitzvah projects that allow visitors to actively participate in community service.
Attendees can:
- Donate blood at the Big Red Bus.
- Make pet chews for the Humane Society of Broward County.
- Bring pets to the Humane Society of Broward County Van for free vaccinations.
- Donate shoes and sneakers for Women in Distress of South Florida.
- Prepare PBJ sandwiches for Lifenet serving Families/Broward Partnership for the Homeless.
- Help clean up 94th Avenue.
- Create High Holiday cards and donate clothing for the Sandy Nininger Veterans Nursing Home.
- Assist children in making button flowers for the Daniel Cantor Center and the Veterans Nursing Home.
These activities embody the spirit of TBTST’s commitment to community outreach and helping those in need. It’s a perfect opportunity for individuals and families to engage in meaningful service while connecting with others in the community.
