Hellenic restaurant was targeted in an early-morning vandalism attack Sunday in which one or more criminals shattered 10 of the eatery’s windows, its owner said.
The restaurant, located at 10436 W. Atlantic Blvd. in Coral Springs, was preparing to host a baby shower breakfast when staff arrived and discovered the damage.
“We arrived early to prep for a beautiful baby shower breakfast and instead found shattered glass—10 broken windows and a space we love turned upside down,” chef-owner Nikol Zarbalas wrote in a Facebook post.
Coral Springs Police responded to the scene, and Zarbalas said neighboring businesses provided surveillance footage despite what they described as attempts by those responsible to obscure their actions.
“CSPD responded quickly, and thanks to our incredible neighbors (even with smoke bombs and attempts to hide), there is footage,” the post stated. “I have full faith that whoever did this will be caught and prosecuted.”
Despite the damage, the restaurant remained determined to open. Zarbalas said staff immediately began cleaning and preparing the space to continue operations.
“Within minutes of getting the green light, my team showed up. No hesitation. No complaints. Just heart. Just love. Just action,” Zarbalas said. “For the last four hours, we’ve been cleaning, resetting, and getting ready to welcome you.”
The restaurant adapted its service for the day, opting to seat guests outdoors.
“So today… we adapt. We’re dining al fresco. Not because we planned it—but because we refuse to let darkness take space where light lives,” Zarbalas wrote.
“And to whoever did this… you didn’t shatter us. You woke us up,” the post continued. “Every attempt to break us—windows, walls, or spirit—only makes us come back louder, stronger, and more alive than before.”
No information about suspects or arrests has been released.
