The Veterans Networking Alliance will honor local police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency personnel during its seventh annual VNA National First Responders Day Salute on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The event will bring together veterans, community leaders and residents for a parade through Tamarac and Coral Springs to recognize first responders for their courage, dedication and service.

The celebration will begin with a vehicle lineup at 11 a.m. at Tamarac City Hall, 7536 NW 88th Ave. The parade will depart at 11:10 a.m. from the Tamarac Police Department, 7515 NW 88th Ave.

Participants will then travel to Coral Springs, where the parade will resume at 11:45 a.m. from the backstage parking lot of the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, near Fire Station 80 at 2825 Coral Springs Drive.

The procession will conclude at noon at the Coral Springs Police Department, 2801 Coral Springs Drive.

Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook, Tamarac Mayor Michelle Gomez, Parkland Mayor Richard Walker and Pastor Randal Cutter, chaplain of the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, are among the community leaders invited to participate.

Residents and veterans who are not participating in the vehicle parade are encouraged to attend and show their support. Spectators can gather at the Tamarac Police Department by 11 a.m. or at the Coral Springs Police Department by 11:40 a.m.

Drivers participating in the parade must register in advance and arrive at Tamarac City Hall between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. Vehicles must be decorated and lined up by 11 a.m.

Organizers remind drivers that travel between Tamarac and Coral Springs along Pine Island Road and Coral Springs Drive is not part of the official parade. Follow all traffic laws, and vehicles must depart Tamarac by 11:25 a.m.

The Veterans Networking Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans by connecting them with resources and assistance.
