Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen has been named a 2025 Home Rule Hero by the Florida League of Cities (FLC) for her commitment to protecting municipal self-governance during the 2025 Legislative Session.
According to a statement from the city, Metayer Bowen was recognized for her efforts to advocate for local decision-making by providing lawmakers with community-based insights and data, reinforcing the belief that cities are best governed at the local level.
First elected to the Coral Springs City Commission in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, Metayer Bowen was appointed Vice Mayor in December 2024. She serves as liaison to several advisory boards, including the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Environmental Sustainability Committee, and the Broward County Climate Change Task Force.
