Coral Springs police arrested a woman accused of involvement in a Wells Fargo investigator scam that led to a victim losing nearly $20,000.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department investigation, Samarah Sydene Comrie, 26, was taken into custody on March 28 and charged with felony grand theft.
The case stems from a January 2025 incident in which a victim was deceived by individuals posing as Wells Fargo investigators, according to the arrest affidavit. The victim was told there was an ongoing federal investigation involving bank employees and was instructed to withdraw money from her accounts to “protect” her funds.
Believing the calls were legitimate, the victim told investigators that she withdrew a total of $19,460 from multiple bank branches and deposited the money onto a debit card provided by the scammers.
Investigators later determined that the debit card and associated accounts were linked to Comrie. Surveillance footage from Wells Fargo ATMs allegedly showed her conducting transactions tied to the deposits, and she was positively identified by both law enforcement and a former employer, according to the report.
Bank records revealed multiple deposits into the account followed by withdrawals totaling more than $10,000 shortly after the funds were transferred, investigators said.
Authorities also noted that the victim later realized the scheme after feeling suspicious and contacting her local bank branch, where staff confirmed there was no investigation and that she had fallen victim to a scam.
The case remains ongoing as investigators continue looking into Comrie’s actions in an attempt to determine if there are more victims.
Comrie has since been released from the Broward County Main Jail after posting a $2,000 bond.
