This year, 15 high school seniors were awarded scholarships from the City of Coral Springs MLK Committee in partnership with the Coral Springs Community Chest, Inc.
They were selected for exemplifying and embodying the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teachings on peace, racial harmony, community service, and bettering the lives of others.
The students were selected from Coral Springs and Parkland high schools, including Coral Springs High, Coral Glades High, Coral Springs Charter, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
To come across such a large group of students practicing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teachings through their actions in their daily lives is incredibly powerful and inspiring, said Vice Mayor Joshua Simmons.
“These students are peacemakers amongst their peers and stand up for racial equality. They make a positive and impactful difference in their communities. I wish them all continued success as they pursue higher education.”
