With a new sports season only months away, three high schools in Coral Springs announced new additions to their coaching staff.

Coral Springs Charter baseball has officially announced that Alvaro Gomez will be the new head coach.

“I am unbelievably excited to help build something epic with our boys,” Gomez said. “Years ago, I moved my family to the city of Coral Springs because of the opportunity the city provided to build a family. “Through our Panthers baseball program, I hope to bring something special for our team, families, school, and, of course, the community of Coral Springs.

The Panthers have had a long history of great coaches at Coral Springs Charter. Gomez takes over for Max Boling, who led the Panthers to a 15-11 record and their third straight trip to Regionals.

J.P. Taravella baseball hired Jorge Miranda as the new coach. He takes over for Joe Giummule, who accepted the same position at Jupiter High School.

“Miranda has a passion for baseball and is committed to providing an athletic experience by committing players to excel on and off the field,” Lashundra Williams said.

Miranda has a wealth of experience coaching baseball, having recently spent time at Calvary Christian Academy and Coral Glades. The Trojans have been one of the best teams in Broward County over the last decade. They made Regionals last year after winning 15 games and have sent several players on to compete at the college level.

Coral Glades hired Amanda Gomes as the new varsity softball coach, and she will take over for Richard Waldorf. Gomes previously worked at Coral Springs Charter under Head Coach Mark Montimurro as the junior varsity coach. She also coached the Coral Springs Panthers 12U softball team.

“We are extremely excited to start a new era of Softball at Coral Glades,” Principal Mark Kaplan said. “Coach Amanda Gomes will help take our softball program to the next level and we couldn’t be more excited for the future.”

The Jaguars reached Regionals again in 2023, going 12-11-1, and have had several college commits over the past few years.
