It was an incredible experience for six basketball players in Coral Springs who participated in the Elite Middle School Showcase on Jan. 5.
Held at Cardinal Gibbons High School, the showcase featured 28 of the best players in the country.
Nethania Noel-Jeune and Laila Barnett played for Forest Glen Middle School, Trezure Reese and Kristijana Carattini were from Coral Springs Middle School, Ayaliah Daley from Ramblewood Middle School, and Ysamir Pimental from Renaissance Charter School. The players were introduced and competed in a three-point contest and All-Star Game.
Vanessa Vancott of Mater Lakes Academy won the three-point contest, Ke’Nya Clark of Westglades Middle School won MVP, and Sunrise Middle School’s Catalina LaFreniere won the hustle award. The players were nominated by their coaches, with Rayna Benoit of Apollo Middle School receiving the award for most votes with 297.
