College Scholarships Awarded by the Fraternal Order of Police of Coral Springs

Each year the Coral Springs Fraternal Order of Police provides scholarships to assist the children of law enforcement members in their effort to attend college.
Last Tuesday evening, six deserving high school seniors were awarded scholarships totaling $4,000. The winners are: Grace Eveker, JP Taravella High School; Brooke Fahey, Calvary Christian Academy; Abigail Lasnetski, Pembroke Pines Charter High School; Rianne Mersch, Coral Springs Charter; Ryan Schuster, American Heritage Boca/Delray; and Lauren Sopourn, home-schooled.
Held at Sartory Hall in Mullins Park, the theme of the essay was, “What do you see as the biggest challenge in law enforcement today, and how to overcome it”.
Police Lodge 87, a non-profit organization, is comprised of law enforcement officers serving the city of Coral Springs. Criteria for a scholarship included residing in Coral Springs - or being the child or grandchild of FOP Lodge 87 member, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, acceptance into a college or university, majoring in a criminal justice field and students must have a clean background.
