An event educating the community about gardening and other Earth-friendly activities is an opportunity for residents to literally grow, during a nature exhibit and plant give-away.
On Saturday, April 23, Earthfest, a free event, takes place at the Sawgrass Nature Center, where a dual celebration of Earth and Arbor Day is on full display.
Information about joining the community garden, Backyard Habitat Program, and the city’s upcoming Sustainability Action Plan are part of the 2022 EarthFest agenda.
“I hope our booth will excite folks to come out and support the community garden,” said member, Satya Rudin.
A veteran of the Coral Springs rotary community garden and food forest, Rudin said seedlings and flower seeds are available at Earthfest in exchange for donations.
“We have lots of herbs, milkweed for the monarch butterflies, flowers, periwinkle, zinnias, marigolds, four o’clocks; and Everglades tomatoes.”
Additionally, starting at 9 a.m., EarthFest will embark on a ‘Keep Coral Springs Beautiful Clean-Up’ campaign. Volunteers ages 14 and up can earn community service hours beautifying the city, after they register online.
Earthfest takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, located at 3000 Sportsplex Drive.
