The Coral Springs-Coconut Creek Regional Chamber is holding its 2023 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Summit on Tuesday, Feb. 28, and includes a panel presented by Fiserv.
Speakers include Fiserv Vice President Dr. Simone Dienna Arnold, Equality Florida Press Secretary Brandon Wolf, Rabbi Yossie Denburg of Coral Springs Chabad, and Sgt. Barb Hendrickx of the Broward Multi-Agency Pride Coalition. Local 10 Chief Certified Meteorologist Betty Davis will moderate the panel.
Other summit sponsors include Baptist Health, Al Hendrickson Toyota, and Florida Power and Light.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. and continue through 9:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for current members and $35 for future members.
Cindy Brief, the chamber president and CEO, said attendees will have the opportunity to hear about why diversity, equity, and inclusion are important for businesses and why embracing diversity is important, adding the chamber began hosting DEI summits in 2021 following the murder of George Floyd and the resulting protests for justice. Those events reignited awareness and injustice not just in the community but in business, too.
Since Coral Springs and Coconut Creek are both diverse communities, the chamber’s mission is to be the engine for economic growth and a champion for a thriving and welcoming community.
“Our hope is that attendees leave with a greater knowledge of why there is a need for diversity, equity, and inclusion and why this equals good business,” she said.
The Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel and Convention Center is at 11775 Heron Bay Blvd.
