Coral Springs Drinking Water Undergoes Routine Chlorination July 15

If your water smells or tastes a little like chlorine, don’t be alarmed—it’s still safe to drink.

The City of Coral Springs Utilities & Engineering Division, along with Royal Waterworks, the Coral Springs Improvement District, and the North Springs Improvement District, will conduct water chlorination from July 15 to July 29, 2024.

This temporary measure, in line with the Department of Environmental Protection’s recommendations, may cause a chlorine taste or odor in tap water.

During this two-week period, water main flushing will occur daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., potentially causing temporary water discoloration and pressure fluctuations. The flushing program helps prevent mineral buildup and ensures the proper functioning of fire hydrants.

Residents are advised to check water clarity before using it for cooking or laundry, run cold water taps for 5-10 minutes if discoloration occurs, consult a physician if on kidney dialysis, and seek pet store advice for tropical fish care, Keep an open container of tap water in the refrigerator to reduce chlorine taste.

These changes are not harmful to health but are necessary to maintain water quality.
