The City of Coral Springs will mark International Peace Day with a community ceremony on Friday, Sept. 19, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs Drive.
The free event, held in partnership with the city’s Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee and the Clergy Coalition of Coral Springs, Parkland, and Northwest Broward, will feature reflections from community leaders, student performances, and activities focused on unity and kindness.
Residents are encouraged to participate in several symbolic gestures throughout the day, including making a Peace Day pledge, writing wishes for peace to hang on an “Imagine Peace Wish Tree,” creating pinwheels for display in their yards, wearing white as part of “Peace Across Broward Day,” and performing random acts of kindness for friends, neighbors, or students.
International Peace Day is observed globally each September, following its establishment in 1981 by a unanimous resolution of the United Nations.
