A Coral Springs man has been arraigned on a superseding indictment alleging he planned to bomb the New York Stock Exchange and possessed child sexual abuse material.
Federal prosecutors said Harun Abdul-Hamid Yener, 30, faces charges of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempting to damage a building in interstate commerce with explosives, threatening to kill federal law enforcement officers, and possession of CSAM.
Court documents allege investigators discovered bombmaking schematics, circuit boards, timers, and other components in an unlocked storage unit in February 2024, along with internet searches dating back to 2017. Authorities also found AI-generated CSAM on Yener’s cellphones.
Prosecutors said Yener told an individual he believed was tied to an anti-government militia that he intended to attack the stock exchange in November 2024. He allegedly built a remote trigger, assigned others to conduct surveillance, and recorded a message he planned to release after the bombing.
Yener also allegedly threatened to kill law enforcement agents who searched his unit.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida and the Justice Department’s National Security Division. The FBI Miami Field Office led the investigation with assistance from the Coral Springs Police Department and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
