Coral Springs Charter School
The Coral Springs commission discussed developing Coral Springs Charter School at its September 23 meeting.
City Attorney John Hearn shared the letter of intent from Charter Schools USA on the relocation, construction, and management of Charter with the commission.
Coral Springs Charter School has been an important part of the community for more than 25 years and now serves more than 1,700 students, with more than 2,000 on its waiting list, according to City Manager Catherine Givens.
“As part of the city’s strategic plan, we are exploring a public-private partnership with Charter Schools USA and Red Apple Development to develop a new, state-of-the-art school with capacity for up to 2,400 students,” said Givens.
The vision includes expanded programming and an advanced AI curriculum designed to prepare students for the future.
She emphasized that the city is committed to doing everything properly.
“As we explore this opportunity, we are doing our due diligence to ensure it is structured responsibly,” adding that the city’s General Fund, property tax revenues, and special assessment dollars will not fund the development or operation of the school.
